Situated in the heart of the University of Dundee’s Botanic Garden, Botanic Garden Coffee Shop offers friendly table service and a pleasant and relaxing escape in beautiful surroundings from the stresses of everyday life.
Our extensive menu provides a wide selection from homemade soups, light lunches and salads to larger meals such as chilli nachos, baked potatoes and panini’s. We also have a daily specials board and children’s menu. All our food is freshly prepared on the premises and our in-house baker ensures our cake cabinet is always full to the brim with tasty treats.
Hospitality
The Garden is an ideal place to hold a function in a beautiful setting close to the heart of the City. We are the exclusive caterers for events in the garden and we pride ourselves in being able to offer a range of delicious menus for all events held at the Garden. From children’s parties and rustic BBQ’s to canapés, dinners and weddings we will guide you with your menu choice to make sure your requirements are met at every stage.
Please note that should you wish to have alcoholic beverages at your event in the Garden, we require a minimum of 6 week’s notice to process the relevant Licence application that is required. As the Coffee Shop is already licenced, this does not apply to functions held here.
Gift Shop
We have a small gift area which stocks a variety of fair trade gifts, scarves, jewellery, children’s toys and cards. We also have garden related gifts as well as seasonal items so you’ll always find something a bit different... especially around Easter and Christmas time!
Plants and Sundries
All our plants are sourced locally and are hand picked by our gardener to provide our customers with the best of quality. We stock a variety of plants from the world famous Wollemi pine to the simple but beautiful daisy. As our gardens at home change and vary with the seasons, so does our range of plants. As we source locally we are able to refresh our stock regularly with the changing of seasons. The majority of our plants come in 2-3 litre pots which give a good root ball and a better start to life. You can also choose from our wide selection of ceramic pots in a range of colours and sizes to compliment your purchase. Christmas trees and hand made fresh wreathes are available to buy or reserve from the first week in December. The trees range from 4ft to 7ft. Our Gardener, who has many years experience working in the botanic gardens themselves, is on hand Monday-Friday from 9-3pm and can offer advice and guidance on your purchases.

Gallery Space (within Visitor Centre)
Although this is used for artists displaying their works, the space can be used out with these hours.

Cost: £150 plus VAT, payable to the Garden
General Outdoor Functions
Type of function: BBQ’s, Photographic Activity, Corporate Lunches, Wedding Ceremonies, Outdoor Theatre, Garden Plays etc.
Numbers: 500 Max
Availability: All year round
Cost: On application (Minimum £200 plus VAT, payable to Garden)
Education Centre
This is a lovely wooden building close to the Visitor Centre. It is open plan and ideal for small, private occasions.
Type of function: Meeting Room, Birthday Parties, Small Exhibitions
Numbers: Theatre Style – 40 Table Setting – 24
Availability: All Year Round
Cost: On application, payable to the Garden
Glasshouse
A unique venue to hold a Reception with that ‘wow’ factor. It also offers a lovely ambience when lit at night.
Type of function: Drinks Reception, Finger Buffet, Mix & Mingle.
Numbers: 80 Max (standing)
Availability: All year round after Garden closing time (Exclusive use).
Cost: £500 plus VAT, payable to the Garden
Marquee Site (Hired Marquee)
The Garden is a beautiful setting for a marquee event. On making your enquiry, we will discuss your requirements, advise on which Marquee will suit your event and organise this for you.
Type of function: Weddings, Receptions, Prize givings, Corporate Functions, Parties etc.
Numbers: 120 Aprox.
Availability: April to September
Cost: A facilities fee of £750 plus VAT, payable to the Garden

Garden Marquee & Small Gazebos
The Garden owns a traditional canvas marquee and 3 gazebos (sides optional).
The Garden Marquee is a traditional canvas marquee with no flooring therefore it is only suitable for ‘mix & mingle’ gatherings.

Cost: Facilities fee and use of Marquee £600 plus VAT. Gazebo’s - £60 each plus VAT, payable to the Garden.
Eddie Kemp Pavilion
A small registrar table and 2 chairs will be provided for use at this lovely Pavilion.

Availability: April – September
Cost: £200 plus VAT, payable to the Garden
Small Log Cabin
This is a small log cabin in the heart of the Garden.
Type of function: Rustic Children’s Parties
Numbers: Max 10 inside (Hire includes the outside area around the Cabin however the maximum number inside the Cabin is 10.)
Availability: April-September
Cost: Half day cost - £25 plus VAT, payable to the Garden
